Keelan Tobia is a dynamic drummer and versatile performer originally from Modesto, California, now based in Southern California. Known for his wide-ranging skill set and musical precision, Keelan began performing professionally at the age of thirteen while studying under Dave Hawkes.

On drum set, Keelan has backed legendary artists including Ernie Bucio, Mic Gillette (Tower of Power, Elton John, Santana, The Rolling Stones), Bill Watrous (Steely Dan), Jon Faddis (Lionel Hampton’s Big Band, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Dizzy’s United Nation Orchestra), and Tony Award-winner Carol Channing (Hello, Dolly!). He currently tours as the drummer for underground rap icon Ramirez, performing nationwide with Ramirez and his Flawless Immaculates, known for their soulful, high-energy live shows.

Keelan began his drum corps journey at the age of six, developing alongside his early drum set experience—two paths that would ultimately shape his distinctive voice as a performer. While he has been immersed in the marching arts since childhood, it’s his time with the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps that most people know him for. From 2009 to 2012, he was a snare drummer with the Blue Devils, earning three undefeated DCI World Championships and two High Percussion awards, including the corps’ only undefeated percussion title in its history (2009). He is also a three-time DCI Individual & Ensemble gold medalist in the World Class division, winning snare solo in 2011 and 2012, and percussion ensemble in 2012. As a result, his achievements and contributions were highlighted by The New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, which recognized his role in shaping the online marching community and inspiring the next generation of performers around the world.

Following his DCI career, Keelan transitioned into the commercial and professional percussion world, performing in high-profile productions and live events as a marching percussionist. He has performed with major artists and productions including Kanye West, BTS, Kygo, Migos, Pharrell, 2Chainz, My Chemical Romance, and the San Francisco Symphony. His work includes appearances with professional sports drumlines for the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, and LA Kings. He is also a cast member at The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA, where he performs in several ensembles, including the world-famous Disneyland Band.

He has recorded for film and television, with credits including Marvel Studios, and has been featured on screen as a drummer in projects on Disney Plus, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and in theaters with the film Babylon. He also served internationally as battery arranger for The Yokohama Robins (Yokohama, Japan), earning a High Percussion title in his first season as an arranger.

Drawing from a deep background in both drum set and marching percussion, Keelan brings a unique voice to his performances and collaborations. His ability to bridge musical worlds allows him to contribute with authenticity, style, and musicality—whether on stage or in studio.
